Coming to California? This HAS to be on your bucket list

california

As one of the most popular states in the US, California is a haven to tourists from all over the world. There is so much to offer, so much to see and do. Even here at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel, we haven’t done everything we’d like to (but we’re working through it). However, we have put together a bucket list of things you definitely should do if you come to California.

Stay somewhere exotic

Beverly hills

Don’t just settle for any old hotel when you come to California. You’re going to be spending a lot of time exploring the city and surrounding areas, so you want to make camp somewhere that exudes luxury. Looking for Torrance Japanese hotels is a good start. Why? Because it’s perfect if you’re searching for hotel romance packages, staying as a family or even as a single traveller – it caters for everyone. More importantly, it is infused with Japanese culture so you can experience a slice of life from another country, all while being based in sunny California.

Saddle up to San Francisco

san francisco

You don’t necessarily have to go on horseback, that could take a while. But visiting San Francisco is one visit you need to make while you’re in California. One of the country’s most iconic pieces of architecture – the Golden Gate Bridge – just has to be checked out. Whether you’re just driving up to take a picture or want to make the crossing yourself, it’ll be worth it. Even on foggy days it’s still a breathtaking sight! The Golden Gate Bridge should be in every holiday photo album and this’ll be your opportunity to add yours. But if you’re heading to San Francisco, don’t forget there’s a lot more to explore. Have a look around Silicon Valley and see where startups and tech companies reign supreme. Or if you want to see something natural and awe-inspiring, book yourself on a Redwood sightseeing tour and take in the natural wonder of these trees.

Take a trip to Hollywood

How can you not? This is where movie magic comes to life so it makes absolute sense that you fit in all the touristy Hollywood attractions. First up is the iconic Hollywood sign and good news it’s free for you to view and there are plenty of places where you’ll be able to see it, including up front and personal. Then there’s the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which you can see at any time. Take a trip into LA and walk across the stars. Who knows, while you’re there you might even see a celebrity putting in their handprints! There’s also a high possibility that you’ll find some celebrities out and about. Maybe you’ll get lucky and be able to take a selfie.

Treat yourself to a feast

With so many different places to eat and drink in California, where are you going to begin? You can start by looking for breakfast places in Torrance as there are over 400 eateries for you to enjoy. It’ll also be a good start for the day before you embark on another adventure to tick things off your bucket list. Though if you plan on staying with us, you can enjoy the Miyako Hotel Torrance restaurant for some Japanese fusion food. Set your sights further afield though and prepare to be blown away. High-end dining, exclusive restaurants, food from cultures from all across the world. You only have to walk around the block to find something exciting to try. So why not give it a go?

Flex yourself at Venice Beach

venice beach

One of LA’s most popular community beaches, Venice Beach is a must-see, not just so you can say you’ve been there. But because there’s such an eclectic range of things to see and do. The most famous place is of course the outdoor gym at Muscle Beach. Perhaps you want to give it a go and see how much you can bench press. Or just stare at the huge bodybuilders who love the attention! There’s also a fun skatepark where you can watch amateurs and professionals showing off their skills. It’s great viewing as you stroll along the boardwalk, sipping your drink and soaking in the atmosphere. Another great thing to do is hire a bike and cycle around Venice Beach’s canals. Amsterdam eat your heart out!

Speaking of beaches

There are loads in California for you to enjoy. From the almost private beaches in Malibu, which you can actually get access to, to the famous Redondo Beach near Torrance, you’re never far away from the sandy beaches and glorious Californian coastline. However, we’d definitely recommend putting Malibu’s famous beaches on your bucket list as it’s famous for some of the country’s most beautiful sea escapes. If you love watersports, the beaches in California will have everything you need – from surfing to bodyboarding to just taking in the sun. Wherever you go, you won’t be disappointed.

Hike around the National Parks

national park

California is famous for its lush National Parks. You can put on your walking boots and set off for a new expedition each time you visit. Amazing scenery, beautiful views and the chance to see some wildlife in its natural habitat. The Yosemite National Park, Joshua Tree National Park and Sequoia National Park are some of the best to see. After you’ve seen the famous foliage such as the Joshua trees and the giant General Sherman Tree, you can head back to the Miyako Spa to relax!

The main attractions

If you’re a Disney fan, and who isn’t these days, then don’t forget you can visit Disneyland and see all your favourite characters come to life. Great for adults and children alike. And if you’re into movies then you can check out Universal Studios too. Embark on a tour around the campus, see the celebrities in action and who knows, you might end up as a background star in the latest blockbuster!

With so much to see and do in California, it’s good to book yourself in for a long stay at a top hotel. Then you can go out and explore the cities, take in the sights and come back to relax. We’ve put together the most popular things to do in California but if you want to know more, just get in touch.
